It's not everyday that a find like this one comes along! Featured in the Winter 2004 Edition of the Custom Classic Trucks Magazine, this 1948 Thriftmaster is a thing of beauty. In 1948, Chevrolet introduced its "Advanced Design" trucks, including the Thriftmaster series. These trucks were built from 1947 to 1955 and were the first major redesign after World War II.
The Advanced Design trucks had a more modern and streamlined look compared to their predecessors. The design was clean and functional, with a distinctive horizontal-bar grille. The Thriftmaster was available in various body styles, including a pickup, panel truck, canopy express, and more. The pickup truck model was particularly popular among farmers, tradesmen, and businesses.
The 1948 Thriftmaster typically has been restored and modified with a 350CI Engine and is coupled with a 350 Transmission, Sanderson Headers and Flowmaster Exhaust. The Interior has been updated with tan leather interior with arm rests, and chrome accents throughout. The Dash really pops with the white-faced gages. Other upgrades include the wood grain truck bed, floor board carpet, tan leather door panels and street scraper painted front pumper.
The Thriftmaster was a workhorse, used for a variety of tasks ranging from hauling goods to serving as service vehicles. These trucks have become highly sought after by collectors and automotive enthusiasts for their classic design and historical significance.
